We celebrated International Intern Day with a summer lab lunch. Thank you to our interns for bringing your vivacious energy and unbridled passion for science to the lab this summer! We also took a new lab photo in honor of the occasion.

Congratulations to Christina on passing her qualifying exam, wrapping up a very productive year of candidacy exams for the Goins lab!

Dr. Goins attends the EMBO Molecular and Developmental Biology of Drosophila conference in Crete. During the meeting, Lauren got to join a group of 100 PIs, unified by their work in Drosophila. It was the 24th time this meeting has been held, so Lauren was super honored to take part in the time-honored tradition!

The lab is once again full of summer students! Welcome visiting students Ashwin (University of Southern California, hosted by Julie) and Nandini (University of Arizona, hosted by Jewel). And welcome back to Stanford undergrad Ilana (hosted by Bayan)!

Hearty congratulations to Celeste for passing her qualifying exam! We had a celebration for her immediately afterwards, and were joined by her cohort mates in the Stem Cell PhD program. We also discovered that accidentally frozen sparkling tea can perfectly mimic a champagne spray…Talk about Celeste’s first scientific discovery as a PhD candidate!

Benjamin celebrated 25 years of service to Stanford! He was honored at a ceremony, with Lauren and his other PI Dr. Minx Fuller as his very proud guests! Congrats Benjamin, and thank you for all that you do!
